President’s Message

Greetings NAEOP Members!
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone this October in beautiful Boise, Idaho for our 2023 NAEOP Annual Conference! This year’s theme is “Not Me, But We,” Boise 23! Our intention for our time together is designed to inspire our teamwork to make the dream work, give us the tools we need to meet the needs of our student population, and sustain our growth as professionals in an increasingly unpredictable environment. For college access professionals, attending the annual conference is an investment in staff development that will provide more impactful teamwork strategies for programs and participants. The conference features discussions on new trends in college access and retention and connects TRIO leaders to best practices. Please come with your teams to hear new ideas, bond with each other, and have a great time together.
Our Pre-Conference Workshops highlight the importance of this theme as we cover topics like: SSS Grant-Writing for those who will be writing for a grant in the next year, Alumni programming best practices, and a team-based Strengths Finders training for your whole staff. Our conference planning committee has been hard at work planning a conference that will be as inspiring and informational as it will be restorative and provide opportunities to meet with some legends of NAEOP in our brand-new mentoring programming. If this is your first NAEOP conference, I can’t wait to meet you! If you’ve been more times than you can count, please consider writing a proposal for a concurrent session so that we can learn from your experience. Finally, we will be offering a post-conference event with a FAFSA expert from Idaho educational department to provide a comprehensive update on all the FAFSA changes for the coming cycle.
Thank you for considering coming with your team to our annual NAEOP Conference in Boise this October. TRIO Works! and ¡TRIO funciona!
Sincerely,
Geof Garner
