About NAEOP

The Northwest Association of Educational Opportunity Programs (NAEOP) is one of 10 regions across the United States. NAEOP is region 10 and includes the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. This association was initially created in 1989 under the name Northwest Association of Special Programs (NASP) and officially changed its name to NAEOP in 2012.

NAEOP provides a venue in which all TRIO and similar programs may support the success of low income, first generation and underrepresented students to obtain a quality education. NAEOP helps these underrepresented populations by promoting program development and collecting and disseminating data based on the students’ specific educational needs. NAEOP provides support services and opportunities not normally accessible to these students to help them reach their full potential and develop into professional individuals.

In order to best serve low income, first generation and underrepresented students and improve the changing needs of these populations, NAEOP sponsors professional conferences, meetings, trainings, mentoring and other educational forums for its members throughout the calendar year. Membership to NAEOP is granted to all personnel of any TRIO or similar program and other interested individuals, institutions, projects and agencies upon payment of the membership fee. NAEOP understands the contribution that low income, first generation and underrepresented students provide to our nation and believes in supporting these individuals as they pursue their higher education degree.
